Matt Bannon, EA, LTC

Matt knows Taxes!

Matt Bannon is a founding member of Granite Point Tax Group. He is enrolled to practice before the IRS (EA #75251) and is a Licensed Tax Consultant in good standing with the State of Oregon (LTC #27275-C). He is also a member of the Oregon Association of Independent Accountants.

The licenses Matt operates under require a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education per year, plus an additional 2 hours of ethics training. Matt exceeds these requirements each year.

In his spare time, Matt sits around eating Bon-Bons, but has also been known to climb cliffs & mountains, rappel waterfalls, help raise the kids, and race triathlons. He's an energetic guy! (The Bon-Bons help).

Matt has been preparing tax returns since 2000 and works primarily with small business owners (sole proprietors, corporations, partnerships, and LLC's). Matt has become particularly involved in the alpaca breeding industry, providing tax advice and preparation to breeders throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The best part is, he's not afraid to get his shoes dirty - if you invite Matt out to the farm, you'd better be ready for him to show up. Just don't expect him to do your dirty work; he draws the line at anything related to the back end of an animal. :) His knowledge isn't limited to alpacas, though, so don't hesitate to ask him about LLCs, stocks & bonds, or even real estate.

Other areas Matt can help with include income tax audit representation, estate and gift taxes, non-profit and tax-exempt filing requirements, retirement and investment tax planning, and business and personal bookkeeping. He is also an accomplished public speaker, so keep him in mind for your next trade gathering or seminar series.

Matt is not a Certified Public Accountant. CPA is a very broad license, while Matt has chosen to focus specifically on income taxes. The EA and LTC designations each require rigorous testing as well as extensive continuing education in issues relating to taxation.
